Snuff Bullet Tutorial: What it is, How to use, and Where to Buy
Ever heard of a snuff bullet also known as a bullet snorter? Well, unless you are really into tobacco, there is only a slim chance that you might have come across the term, or the product itself. So, what exactly is it? What does it do? How do you use it? And more importantly, where can you buy it?
We will cover all those sections below to help you understand all the fundamental aspects of this great tool!
So, what exactly is it?
Contrary to what the name suggests, it is not an actual bullet (at least, not literally). Snuff bullet refers to a small container where you can store powdered tobacco, aka snuff. The name (bullet) is given due to the container’s peculiar design that resembles the shape of a bullet.
So, what is a snuff again?
Snuff, as mentioned above, is one of the many types of tobacco. It is obtained by pulverizing or grounding the normal tobacco leaves into a fine powder. Hence, it is also called smokeless tobacco.
There are two main types of snuff – moist and dry. Dry snuff is inhaled through the nasal cavity, whereas, the moist type is consumed by putting it between the gum and the cheek. The bullet makes use of dry snuff.
They also go by the name of snuff rocket in the market. They are usually made of metal or plastic material. However, some newer models of them also come with glass and carbon fiber material. They come in different shapes and sizes to accommodate the needs of different types of tobacco users.
How does a it work?
It has a very simple working mechanism. It stores the dried tobacco, aka, snuff inside it, and allows you to pour it out in a controlled quantity whenever you need it. It will usually have a large opening/hole on the tip from where the tobacco comes out.
The other important part of a snuff bullet is the rotating dial that is usually mounted on the side. This arrow-shaped nozzle helps you to regulate the flow of tobacco by adjusting between the open and close position.
How do you use it?
It will usually never come with a manual guide to take you through the process step-by-step. Although their usage isn't hard to master, having a pre-conceived idea can go a long way to help you avoid some common mistakes.
First, understand that it has three main parts – the base part can be unscrewed, the hole on the tip, and a rotating dial on the side. But, in the case of glass and plastic versions, the screw is usually present on the head.
The rotating dial is the key component that keeps the snuff inside the bullet chamber and delivers it to the nose cone. The dial can be rotated to control the amount of snuff pouring out of the bullet.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to use a snuff bullet the right way.
Step 1: The dial is usually shaped like a typical arrow symbol, so make sure it is rotated facing down (in a closed position).
Step 2: Now, unscrew the bottom part, and fill the bullet with snuff. Make sure not to overfill the bullet, as that can cause the snuff to jam and prevent you from sniffing it out. Just fill it to a level where screwing back the base portion won’t be a problem.
Step 3: Rotate the bullet facing south/down to allow the snuff to enter the dial chamber. Here you may want to give the bullet a slight tap to ensure the snuff has entered the chamber and also to make sure it falls out easily.
Step 4: Now turn the dial 90º so that it is now facing to the side.
Step 5: Point the bullet towards your nasal (if you want to sniff it directly) or towards your table or any surface where you want to pour out the snuff.
Step 6: Finally, rotate the dial another 90º, so it faces top, and tap slightly to let the snuff pour out from the holes, or just sniff it out directly.
